Bailey Nolan is an energy artist based in NYC who demands your full attention. Using voice and dance combined with an aesthetic language all her own, Nolan transforms a space and transports her audience literally back to the present. Laced with humor and littered with pop-culture, her work has been acclaimed throughout the United States and abroad in institutions including MoMA, Deitch Projects, University of Washington, Chashama, JACK, et al.
Alongside Viva Soudan, she runs Buoy, a performative dance duo that uses the political body to enforce joy, and hosts BuoyRR, an annual two-week residency and retreat intensive for womyn in Deep River, Connecticut. For three years, Nolan toured with the Ann Liv Young Dance Company, performing in over thirty productions Internationally at museums and festivals including Gessneralle Zürich (Switzerland), Steirischer Herbst (Austria), Inkonst Malmö (Sweden), New York Live Arts, Joe’s Pub, et al.
Nolan is the founder of the avant-garde post-feminist guerrilla performance collective BabySkinGlove, and the co-creator of the off-Broadway musical Katdashians! Break the Musical! She graduated from Eugene Lang College, New School University in 2006 with a B.A. in writing.
